Just for the fun of it - Te Puti Art Studio

To see what happens when individuals are given:
• a 1m length of RESENE wallpaper
• a set of OPEN instructions
• a group of enthusiasts
• a gallery space
Plus they had to choose 8 out of 12 other elements to include - see below.

Artists include Carole Shepheard, Sheena Lomas, Linda Cole-Cantwell, Di Jeffries, Jeanette Schollum, Marg Beet, Gail Corboy, Robyn Ninnes, Merania Kana, Zarna Torpey, Carolyn Wilson, Brenda Ronowicz, Lois Emmett and Heather Bramwell
Students in two classes at Te Puti Art Studio were given a challenge, partly to see what eventuated, but more to question how to take ideas further, how to move past the obvious and to think outside the box and ultimately to understand compositional problems better. Some individuals misinterpreted the project, some chose to be highly selective and not use all the suggested elements, some procrastinated while others stepped way outside their comfort zone. The individuals range from a 17year old correspondence student to me being the oldest! Some are very new to the studio and others have been making art for many years. This certainly created a lively atmosphere with a certain level of humorous rebellion! Bring it on!

Not only did the students receive 1 metre of a gorgeous Resene wallpaper they had to include 8 out of these 12 elements (issued by Carol Shepheard)
