As a creative starting point for my art I use several techniques designed to access what (in Western civilisation) is referred to as the unconscious mind. Primarily I use automatic drawing or writing to generate images and ideas. I then juxtapose this material in contemplative and imaginative ways, until I realise something I wish to physically craft.
As well as being an expression of my own unconscious, these objects represent an exploration of the history, ideas, and narratives relating to this subject.
